Aaron Pott is the owner of Pott Wine in Napa Valley, California. He is a renowned winemaking consultant, and was recognized as 2012’s Winemaker of the Year by Food and Wine Magazine.
Aaron’s prolific winemaking abilities result from range of professional experiences at world-class vineyards including: as assistant winemaker at Newton Vineyard under legendary winemaker John Kongsgaard; as winemaker at Château Troplong Mondot, a Premier Grand Cru Classé location in St. Emilion, France; and as winemaker and general manager of Château La Tour Figeac Grand Cru Classé in St. Emilion, France. Aaron studied oenology at the University of California-Davis where he delved into all aspects of winemaking theory, including practical application working part-time in the research laboratory at Robert Mondavi Winery. He also earned a Masters in Viticulture from the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, France.
Aaron’s passion and curiosity for wine began at the young age of 9 when he ordered a glass of milk in a venerable Parisian bistro. When he waiter responded in halting perfect English that “milk is for babies” and promptly delivered a glass of watered down red wine, Pott realized that wine was a beverage of choice for adults and immersed himself in the world of wine trivia and his eventual studies in oenology.
